Refer a firm. Pay less for as long as they stay.
Every firm that signs up using your code takes 20% off your own subscription, at every renewal, for as long as that firm stays with us. At 5 active referrals your subscription costs nothing, and it stays at nothing while they stay. This means no payment, no commission cheque and nothing to invoice once you have referred 5 firms that successfully subscribe.
What it does to your bill
On the Firm plan at $940 a year. Every tier works the same way, and the figure below is what you pay at each renewal, not once.

The discount applies to the subscription and is recalculated at each renewal from the firms subscribed at that moment. Setup fees are already waived on annual plans, so there is nothing further to discount there.

If you pay monthly
The same value, pro-rated across your cycle.
Monthly subscribers are not left out. The discount is worked out against your annual price, then spread evenly over the months left in your twelve-month cycle, and it carries into the next cycle for as long as the referral stays active.

One referral on the Firm plan, worth $188. Fewer months left means a larger reduction on each of them, because the same value is spread over fewer payments. Where the reduction would exceed the monthly fee, that month is free and the balance carries forward.
How it works, start to finish
Your code is generated when you become a customer
It appears in your portal with a link you can share. There is nothing to apply for.
You share it
Send the link, or just tell the firm to enter your code during setup. Either works.
They sign up using it
The code travels with them automatically through the link, for 90 days.
We confirm the referral
A person checks it against their subscription actually starting, then credits it to your account. The count is visible in your portal.
Your renewal is reduced
Annual subscribers see it at their next renewal. Monthly subscribers see it spread across the rest of their cycle.
It repeats while they stay
The count is taken again at each renewal. Firms still subscribed under your code keep reducing your bill. One that has cancelled stops counting from that renewal on.

How is the discount applied?
It comes off your own subscription. Each firm that signs up using your code takes 20% off, and they stack: two referrals is 40% off, 5 is the whole thing.
It is not a one-off. The discount is applied at every renewal for as long as that firm keeps its own subscription, so 5 firms that stay means you stay free.
Nothing is paid to you in cash, there is no invoice to raise and no payout to chase. Your bill is simply smaller.
What if I pay monthly rather than annually?
You earn the same value, pro-rated across the months left in your twelve-month cycle. The discount is calculated against your annual price, then spread over the remaining months, and it carries into the next cycle for as long as the referral stays active.
On the Firm plan at $89 a month, one referral confirmed with six months left reduces those six payments by $31.33 each, so you pay $57.67 a month instead.
When is a referral confirmed?
When the firm you referred signs up using your code and their subscription starts. A click on your link is not a referral, and neither is an enquiry.
The code travels automatically if they arrive through your link, and it can also be entered by hand during setup. We confirm each one before it is applied to your account.
Is there a cap?
There is no cap on how many firms you may refer. The discount itself stops at 100%, because a bill cannot go below zero.
Referrals beyond 5 are not wasted. They keep your bill at zero if one of the first 5 cancels, because the discount is counted from the firms that are active at the time of your renewal.
Do I need my own subscription?
Yes. The reward is a reduction on your own bill, so there has to be a bill to reduce. If you are not a customer there is nothing for the discount to apply to.

What happens if the firm I referred cancels?
Their 20% stops at your next renewal. A discount already applied to a renewal you have paid is not reversed, and nothing is clawed back.
This is the other side of a discount that repeats. Your bill at each renewal is worked out from the firms that are subscribed at that moment, so it can go down as well as up.
The intent is straightforward: the discount reflects customers who are actually with us.
How are referrals tracked?
With a unique link and a first-party cookie, both running on our own server. No affiliate network is involved. A click on your link is recorded and sets a cookie that lasts 90 days, and a signup in that window carries your code.
Your code, your active referrals and the discount they carry are all visible in your client portal, and the count is refreshed as firms join or leave.
Where do I see my code and my discount?
In your portal, on the dashboard. It shows your code, the link to share, how many referrals are active, and exactly what your next renewal will be after the discount.
A word on referring your own clients
This is designed for referrals between firms. If you are thinking of recommending ProtPTX to a client who relies on your professional judgment, check your own state's rules on referral arrangements first, and tell them you receive a discount.
